Tips for getting Baby to sleep

Tips for Getting Baby to sleep

Cries are communication for Baby!
Don't  take you'r babies cries personally. Your baby loves you! The cries mean I LOVE YOU BUT CANT FIND THE WORDS TO SAY WHAT I NEED.
Mom in Me Bedtime tips:
1.Play , play , play before bedtime play with your baby Tickle, play with toys , play tag ,peak a boo. Get rid of all that  baby energy!
2.At night, set up a soothing routine. Give your baby a bath, sing a song , read a book, or tell a story( tell baby about your day ) Leave out the part about your boss. These activities can help your baby relax. They also signal that it is time to sleep.
3.When your baby is getting sleepy, put your baby in his or her crib in a quiet, darkened room.

-Tips for getting baby to go back to sleep:
1.Try to feed your hungry baby  when he or she starts to wake up and is still calm. Hungry cries often start with low  and become higher and higher pitched.
2.Keep the light off during nighttime feedings, and use a low voice.
3.Keep Calm !  Babies are  very sensitive to a parent's feelings of frustration. Take a deep breath and enjoy! Remember Baby loves you! Cries are communication.

Tips for Mommy Sleep
1. Sleep when baby sleeps
2. Schedule sleep : Working Mom's take a day off from work (send baby to the sitters ) and just sleep. or  Sleep during a lunch break.
3. Sleep in on the weekends

Remember mom's need to rejuvenate too!
Take some ME time !

Are you Happy Mom? Happy Mother'sDay !

Steps and Tips to Happiness in Motherhood

1 .Admit it!  You’re stressed- STOP! Expecting motherhood to be perfect. "It really helps to if you realize that it's okay to feel frustrated, angry, tired, or irritable sometimes," You're not a bad parent. It's not even a bad parenting experience. It's just normal." You are human! Although your children may treat you like a superhuman or drone. You have feelings and emotions don’t forget about the ME  that  Mom is within.
2. Re) consider your priorities- Make yourself a priority detox bath or shower , a  moment to read  comics, quiet time alone to  eat cookies or a apple, Read a book / magazine of interest to you   etc .. A way to bring a more positive mood is to structure your day so you do more things you enjoy. "Do more of what makes you happy mom.( Don’t forget about the HUMAN the WOMEN that makes the MOM!)
3. Relish the moment-One way to nourish positive emotions is to take a moment to appreciate, write down your goals and wishes. Make a Grateful list. Instead of thinking about what you don’t have focus on what you DO! Shelter, kids that need and adore you, health, 2 eyes, 2 legs, A wig or weave (if you have one). I’m Grateful for all these things. You should be too!
4 Send a Thank you note-A note of thanks goes a long way. Thank your mother (now you know what she companied about) Right! Thank your children YES YOURE CHILDREN! Model the way you want them to behave. You always remind them to stay please and Thank you so should you!
5. Be Silly –When life throws you lemon make strawberry lemonade. Throw in that something extra to make  life fun!
Be silly with your kids create a place of fun and open communication. Tickle ,Share silly stories from your childhood, make funny faces, Watch funny cartoons, Send a funny text message or display  how proud you are of your child via twitter, Facebook, Instagram any social media platform. Watch out for the Mean Moms!

Watch out for the Mean Moms!

There are movies about it. Remember the movie Mean Girls with Lindsay Lohan. We.We all experienced it in high school. You were either apart of the in crowd or the out crowd. The Mean girls would walk the halls and prey on any and every body they wanted and some how they were still cool. If you were one of the victims of the mean girls attack, You couldn't wait to grow up and get out of high school away from the drama. Surely once you become an adult , girls wouldn't act this way towards one another.
Well think again -A couple of month’s ago I decided to start a mom’s support group. I wanted to get out the house meet other moms and just talk about something other than sponge bob , icarly , bigtime rush, Timmy the lamb , Jessie, Ant Farm, Austin & Ally , Shake it up – You get the picture. All of these shows I know the theme song to, and sometimes sing while shopping. I wanted to talk about mother hood and be real! What I like about motherhood, what I love , what irritates me sometimes. Most of the mom’s I meet have been so nice and inviting. I’ve met some wonderful women !
On the other hand I’ve attended some mom group meetings were the moms have not been so inviting.
Mean Moms won’t say anything to your face ( of course that wouldn't be polite ) but you can read the look on their faces -
On Wednesdays we wear pink! Mom translation: You’re not wearing heels?
She doesn't
even go here! Mom translation: No new moms!
You can’t sit with us! Mom translation: You can’t sit with us!
Little cliques form with the moms group itself. One group meets but then all the moms break off into separate mini groups.
The I paid a lot for this purse group
The HOT moms
The Eco friendly group
The Calling Babies ugly group
The we only wear heels group
The my nail’s are done weekly Group
The Asian moms Group
The Latin moms Group
The African American moms group
The I’m glad both my shoes match group
The nursing mom group
The Starbucks mom group
The party on the weekend mom Group
And many more ……….
My point here is we are all MOMS! Hint-the name “mom’s group” DUHHH!(see it’s contagious )
We should model the way we want our children to behave! No mother should ever feel bullied or like they’ve been put into a time machine and forced to be back in high school.
Yes moms can bully other moms!
All mothers should support one another regardless of how they dress, ethnic back-round, social class or hand bag selection.
Let’s be honest – People tend to treat you differently because of your hand bag. You are still the same person inside!
To all the mean moms out there – I may want to call your Mom to tell on you.
BUT-
The mom in ME wants to put YOU and your FRIENDS in TIME OUT and show you silly pictures and happy videos.
Let’s All be Happy! We’re moms!

Crying baby on board!

The other day my 4mos old daughter begin to cry on the way home from the grocery store. Let me give you a little back round information about my daughter. She hates no -  despises her car seat. So much so that I don’t call it her car seat. I call it her arch enemy. She has the mirror , she has the toys  she does not care she wants OUT. While driving home siting at a red light. ( while the people in the next car over shook their heads ar me. As my daughter wails so loud you can hear her with the window up. I thought to myself – Hmm !   Someone needs to invent a BABY CRYING SIREN –
It would be genius!
the baby crying siren would  alert other cars to move out of the way there’s a crying baby in the car behind  you. It could be purple , green, pink for girls, Blue for boys. Oh ! maybe there could be a cheetah colored one. Instead of the Wee ooh, wee ooh, wee sound. There could be a sound of a baby crying whaaaa whaawhaaa. All moms with this siren would receive special police horn announcement and police assistance.  I can hear the police now over the blow horn “move outta the way mom with  crying baby on board. Bleep” .
Only in a perfect world I guess. Any mother that has had a screaming baby in the car with her while she is driving knows what I am talking about. You feel so helpless and guilty. We must keep our children in car seats for safety. No if , and , or buts about that. Until this siren has been invented I guess I will have to keep pulling over  jumping out of the car getting the baby out nurse for 10 minutes gently put her back into the seat. Drive for 5 minutes. Pull back over get her out the seat feed her , gently put her back into the seat and drive.Until then a trip to the store will take me 4 hours.

I will be writing to my local congressmen to get this on the ballot.

MOMS Need sirens too! #mominmelife

5 Reasons why you should be a Silly mom

5 Reasons Why you should be a silly MOM

Our Job as mothers can stressful at times. Our attitudes most times don’t model the way we expect our children to act. We become overwhelmed with all the demands and request that are anticipated. As moms we sometimes forget how to have fun and just be happy. So with that in mind here are 5 reasons to be a silly mom.

1. Every minute that passes turns into the past.
You will never have today again! Utilize the time you have with your kids and make every moment a memorable one,

2. Come out of the mom shell.
WE spend too much time in there anyway. Be just YOU for a change. Look at some pictures of your younger self. Share the pictures with your kids. I’m sure there's one or two you’ll find that will make you ask the question yourself (what was i thinking?)

3. Model Life -Silliness and laughing daily.
Sing out loud a song that you love! Dance with your kids!
It’s so important to get in a silly joke or laugh each day. It really makes a difference!

4. Don't be so serious.
Remember that movie Batman that part when the joker asked "why so serious?"
Yeah! why are we so serious?
Adults are viewed by children as being boring, sad and upset all the time. Show your children their mom accept  the not so good parts of being adults with a smile and a tongue stuck out - Ready for anything

5. A mother’s happiness directly impacts her children’s lives-
Studies have proven that happy mothers makes for a happy home. Children that view and experience happiness in their home environment are naturally happy.

So here are the top 5 Reasons to be a silly mom. People may think you are crazy when you sing out loud. But, HAY people most likely think that anyway! PLAY.LAUGH.ENJOY being a mom.
I am speaking from experience. Although I suffer mom related illness such as mom-me fatigue and dehydration. I still smile -drink 1 glass of water and cluck out in my bed at night.
A Happy camper  - I Wouldn't have it any other way.
I’m all about that mom-me Life! I love all 6!

My Medal Please for 126 months of my life devoted to my children.

9 months of pregnancy X 6 kids = 54 months of my life. I have been pregnant for 54 months of life ! What! My medal Please!

Not including breast feeding 6 kids X 12 months = 72 months

Lets do the math below :

72 months of nursing + 54 months of pregnancy = 126 months of my life.

Can we have an Olympics for moms ?

Mom-me the Fixer

I am a Mom-me Fixer. Which means: MOM+ME=Fixer of everything

I love the television show Scandal. I sat down over the weekend to watch some reruns. The thought came to my mind, that as a mom I have the same job as Olivia Pope. Minus the wardrobe and fresh hair style.

I receive no compensation for my services. The clients (my children) have never ending problems such as:

A science fair project that needs an hypothesis, Barbie’s missing shoe, Batteries for the remote, Conference calls and apologizes for my son for  hitting the teacher in the Bum with a small eraser. (He was aiming for the kid next to her). I fix clogged sinks and toilets, Hungry tummies, wardrobe malfunction, and Missing Lego man heads. I even take the blame for late school arrivals.
The list could continue on for days, weeks even months.

The end result is that as a mom-me fixer, i wear many hats.  Sometimes I Cry, sometimes I laugh and sometimes I hide out in the bathroom.

But being mom -ME is my job and I love it!

Hopefully, I will receive some compensation when they move out. Wishful thinking I know -

In the mean time I will settle for unlimited HUGS.

Question to my Readers ?

Have you ever been mistaken as your husband/spouses Mother ?

( please don't tell me i'm the only one!)

If so how did you react?

My story.

I 'd taken the kids into the dentist for their 6month cleaning. I thought it would be a good idea to take all 4 kids in together on trip. As usual i checked all the kids in. Filled out all the paper work while my husband sat down with the kids and played the video game console in the waiting room for  patients. I got kid 1,2,3 seen and was on my way to getting kid number 4 in the chair for her cleaning. When one of the dental assistant  stop me with a pleasant voice and said" Mrs Walker you aren't going to get your teenagers teeth cleaned today? " I looked at her with fire in my eyes and said he's not my son he's my husband. I felt like the oldest lady in the world! Not to mention my kids laughed in the car the whole way home about how i was mistaken as their dads mother YUCK!

Reheat Kids !

I have nights that i call - GO FOR WHAT YOU KNOW!

When my kids ask me whats for dinner ? I reply with the phrase GOFORWHATYOUKNOW!

My kids know exactly  what that means. The phrase means go in the freezer and cook what ever you know how to cook.
noodle it
hot dog it
frozen pizza in the microwave it
corn dog it
nuggets it
burrito it
bagel pizza

What ever it is you can prepare you prepare it. Preparing their own dinner once a week helps strengthen their confidence  develop independence. It also allows for mom to catch up on episode of Scandal with out interruption. Its amazing how children talk to one another when they complain about mom not cooking.

It about creating sibling bonding moments my friends.   :0
